A real cop story The Heidelberg Punk Index There was this case some years ago in Heidelberg known as the parking lot case. A woman was killed in this parking lot. Her friend which was with her on this evening told the cops this story. They were in this parking lot. A group of guys aproched them from behind. He was hit, knocked out and when he came to, he discovered his girlfriend stabbed, dead. All he could remember about these guys is that they looked like punk rockers. At this time Heidelberg was kind of a center of punk rock in southern Germany, and the police were pretty much hassling anyone with strange looking clothes or haircuts. So for them this was just the reason to start something that was later known as the Heidelberg punk files. Everywhere in the area, (a 30 miles radius around Heidelberg) was checked out. The police searched every bar, every home, living project or commune and every meeting place looking for anyone they presumed connected to what they called the punk circle. Hundreds of people were arrested for one day or so to make a personal data checkups including photos and fingerprints and all the procedures that come in the heads of the cops when they really want to fuckup people. Around this time I staying in several places and had moved around a lot. After some weeks some people that I had lived with called me to tell me the cops are looking, very urgently for me in combination with the parking lot case. For me it looked like it is anyway only a matter of time until they caught up to me so instead I decided to pay them visit just by myself to check out what they really want from me. So I visited this friend who was in this time very much in to the new romantic style. I borrowed a pretty strange looking costume for that day, put some makeup on my face and went to the cops. The police officer from the counter asked me what I want in here and I told him that I have to make a very important statement. But in order to do this I really have to talk with somebody that belongs to the criminal police. He told me that I'm here in the police headquarters and here this a lot of different criminal police departments in the house. He wanted to know with which special department I wanted to talk. I said I have to talk with somebody from the homicide department . And that I have to make a very important statement about the parking lot case. I think I should explain that this day was already three or four weeks after murder and that the newspapers of the area started to really made fun about the fact that the cops seemed to be pretty unable to solve the case. They really made them livid. So when I told his police officer at the counter that I have to make such an important statement about the case, it brought immediately life into the guy. In an obvious Hurry he made some phone calls in-house and within two minutes an officer from the homicide department entered the room and told me to follow him. He was fifty something and a very serious guy. It was very interesting to see how this police headquarters looked inside. We had to pass three or four doors with big locks on it, a lot of deadly gray looking floors in between. It took us a while to reach his office. I really begain wondered how he could make it in this short time to the counter. When we arrived in his office he told his secretary to write down my statement with the typewriter and additionally he put a tape recorder on the table. He asked me for my personal data like my name, where I'm born and all that and then he asked me what I know about the parking lot case. I told him that I absolutely don't know anything about the case. Obviously he was pretty astonished about this kind of statement. "But why are you here than if you really don't know anything about that? The police officer on the telephone told me that you have important information's about that case." "Oh!" I said "this must have been a misunderstanding! I came here to tell you that on the day when this woman was murdered in the parking house I was not even in the city. There was the birthday party of my friend Tom in Manheim that I joined." Which was true " I heard the last days from a lot of people that you´re looking for me. And you made it so urgent that you really scared some of my good friends so that they called me to ask me if I maybe have something to do with the homicide. Well, here I am to tell you that I have absolutely nothing to do with all that shit. I thought , maybe it spare's a lot of time for you when I come here to tell you this." Long faces! They didn't ask me anything anymore about that case. Probably they also heard that there was this birthday party at my friends house because anyone else that I knew that was there at the party had already been ordered to the cops. So there was nothing else to do than to make some shitty photos from me in my strange costume. Two months later they questioned again the friend of the victim about the case, probably with some more pressure this time. And this time he made the confession that he, himself had murdered her! Two years later I got this letter from the cops. They sent me the photos from this day. I still have them at home as a nice souvenir. This has been the only present I have ever gotten from the cops! Hopefully they had the same fun with these photos that I have when I take them out while I tell my friends the story of how I got them.... - Weed Premad
